Sellout

Hey all,

This is a complete sell-out of a post. I'm not going to offer any interesting insight on the (spectacular) play interpretation of Michel de Montaigne's essays, which I saw last night, or the latest issue of culture shock delivered direct via personal experience expressway.

No, I'm just going to selfishly post two items that recently popped up in my wish list for the next major holiday/birthday. The first is something I have had my eye on for a while, considering the practicality of such a device, but also the interesting cultural repercussions of a digital society.

Kindle 2

The second is a book that I just heard reviewed on NPR's Fresh Air Podcast.

Brothers, by Yu Hua

Call me what you will, but I indulged in this impulse fully aware of the selfish consumerism propagated by such a post.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day. ♥ .

Best,
Ben

hey ben,
so was there any notice of Valentine's Day in France? or is this another example of a manufactured American holiday? i hope you had a good day in any case. i helped ahmet take six loads of rotten old building to the dump. i think the kindle is pretty cool, but am still hooked on holding a book made of paper, that doesn't need batteries. the library here had their booksale on saturday and i picked up (among other things) "Soul Mountain" by Gao Xingjian. hope you are warm,
love, dad
